SYMBOLISM EXPLAINED BY THE SCULPTOR PETER Kostner [1]
STATUE OF SAINT RITA
When I received the order of the statue of St. Rita for the chapel, I read the life of it and I was surprised by its simplicity, humility.Rita felt immensely loved by God and wanted to match his love by offering themselves to him in religious life. His parents did not accept this choice and she had to marry. Her husband, on contact, passed a depraved life at conversion;thereafter, however, he was murdered by former enemies. His children eventually died of the plague. Alone, Rita could eventually enter the convent. There in the silence, she pondered the life of Jesus and felt an immense joy to be all to Him.Jesus was crucified and abandoned model for his soul and it was on the cross he loved most. And Rita wanted to respond to that love by loving God above despite the suffering she encountered in everyday life.I thought of St. Rita Describing the experience of God and invites us to follow. This is the meaning of the gesture of his left hand: it gives us of what it received, and it invites us to enter the same communion with Christ. The statue is carved from linden wood and painted with light colored oil. CHRIST GLORIOUS to decorate the apse and dominate the interior of the chapel, we wanted a representation of the glorious Christ. Christ is victorious. The cross was an opportunity to overcome sin and evil through love and obedience. It is like ascending to the cross, calling all men to follow him to the Father.
